Is there a way to have selected text show up as it's actual color? Or like the way it works in Word where it's not the actual color of the text, but when text of different colors are selected they show up as different colors even when selected. I tried using setSelectedTextColor to change the color of the selected text, but that doesn't work since that changes the text to red anytime text is selected afterwards. On the Custom tab, in the Colors box, select the color you want. Unfortunately I don't know how to make them opaque. If you want a specific font color, heres how you can blend your custom color: Click Home > Font Color arrow > More Colors. Then it applies, and my selected text is approximately like it was in W7 but half-transparent.
Then I go to theme settings and choose the color dark gray for the taskbar etc. But when the user selects the text, then chooses the option to change the color (say, to red) the text does not appear as red until the text is unselected. I have been able to achieve the background color change, but dont know the editor key for any of the foreground texts. I am creating a text editor using a JTextPane that allows the user to change the color of selected text. In all these cases, I would like to have the selected text, whether Im selecting it by using CMD+d or clicking on a result in a search side bar to have the text be dark gray in the foreground, and yellow in the background.
